Written by David I. A. Mason, Illustrated by Simon Kono
Gus is a cautious little fly from Vermont who never learned to fly. After a mishap, he finds himself in New York City and sets off on an epic adventure to find his way back home. Along the way he meets colorful, diverse characters who show him that courage must come from within. This is a story about cultural diversity, friendship, family and overcoming fear and self-doubt in order to reach your goals.

David I. A. Mason is a writer and editor who loves to spend time with his family. His latest book, Gus in the Big City is an idea he came up with while living in New York City.
In his spare time you'll find him playing drums and guitar, snowboarding or reading. He currently lives in the mountains of Colorado with his wife, two young daughters, and the occasional bear who comes inside for a cup of hot cocoa by the fire.

From an early age, Simon Kono has been scribbling into existence the contents of his imagination, which is often chock full of spaceships, robots, and creatures of all varieties. This has become a lifelong adventure for him - one which brought him from the peaceful and verdant fields of his home state of Vermont to the hustle and bustle of New York City, where he eventually found himself creating imaginary worlds for video games. Some notable titles he designed artwork for include U.B. Funkeys, an award winning interactive children’s game, and more recently, indie hit Mushroom 11, an Apple Design Award recipient among others. Gus in the Big City marks Simon’s first foray into the world of Children’s book illustration. Simon now lives in Seattle with his wife and their not-so-little cat, Little.
