Ages 14 and Up
Charlotte is a teenager with more responsibility than many young adults. She is the oldest of four children, born to irresponsible parents who constantly fight, and shirk their parental responsibilities. One day, during one such argument, Charlotte encourages her littlest sister to drop an American commemorative quarter in a curious, tree shaped coin bank.
The moment the quarter disappears inside, the world around Charlotte and her four siblings shifts and changes until they find themselves in the real-life version of the scene on the back of the quarter. Charlotte’s concern morphs into fear when she realizes they are in a new world – one where the natives are intelligent talking animals, and that’s not all, she also learns that the animals are at war with a group of powerful Witches.
Charlotte and her siblings agree to accompany the animals to their safe house, a hollowed-out mountain where the “Creature Council” sits. There they learn that they too can practice magic, and agree to fight alongside the animals in exchange for lessons on how to use their powers. During one of these lessons, two Witches appear and kidnap Charlotte. The Witches take Charlotte to their Queen, and Charlotte quickly realizes that nothing is as simple as it seems.
